May Project Life

IMG_4166

I am finally all caught up in Project Life and it feels great. So slowly but surely I am getting them up here.

May was a fun month. A hot, but fun month. Florida is a funny place. Sometimes it gives us mild starts to the summer and other times it goes from 0 to 60. May was that month for me. Hot, humid, and a reason to  fall into dog days.

IMG_4167

With the hot weather, comes time to chop off my hair. So with some help from some good friends, I decided to stay blonde and just take some length off. As you can see, Kyle looks great as a blonde.

IMG_4168

I spent a good part of the month not believing that my brother was graduating from high school, and that he would be off to college just a short month later. We headed to his graduation with heavy hearts realizing that he is not so little anymore. He is 18 and college bound.

IMG_4169

We got these little guys in the mail in early May, and automatically fell in love. We are currently using them as snack/drink holders and they work perfectly.

April Project Life

IMG_4055

April was a fun month, a short but fun month. Because the month just flew by, my Project LIfe reflected that. So this month is very photo heavy and no real journaling.

The title page for this month is a 12x12 picture from our family vacation. We somehow crammed all of the family into one picture while out eating. It is kind of a special picture in my book.

IMG_4056IMG_4058

I decided to make a photo grid insert page for all of the pictures that were not from our beach trip.

IMG_4059

On the back is a photo from the baby shower with my sister in law.

IMG_4060

These photos start our long weekend at the beach. Lots of photos of Tilly playing in the sand. She had the best time. We did too!

IMG_4061

On the back, there are more pictures of our short trip. We spent lots of time relaxing, eating, and wine tasting. Of course more pictures of Tilly!

IMG_4062

The last page for April is a giant 12x12 picture of Kyle and I. I kind of love it and it's a good depiction of our month. Happy happy month!

March Project Life

IMG_3941

March was a truly amazing month for us, and it took me a long time to work my way through pictures and items I collected over the month. The first page is the 12 x 12 picture that we took during our third anniversary trip. I added some teal letters and wrote a little about the month right on the picture.

IMG_3942

This page is books 9-11 from The Vampire Academy series. I wrote reviews of all of the books here. We had our first really warm day and decided to sit outside at a local restaurant. The bottom three photos are from a great weekend spent with our family in Jacksonville.

IMG_3931

Some other random things that happened in March. Book number 12, baby shower invitations went out for my sister in law, a movie date, Waffle House (my favorite), and a lazy day with my guy.

IMG_3932

I separated the month with a section devoted to our trip to Savannah. It was an absolutely amazing trip, and the perfect time for us to relax, talk of the future, and just be together. I added an 8x11 photo and printed the date and trip information on the photo.

IMG_3933

On the next two inserts, I added some items I collected while we were in Savannah. We spent some time looking around The Cathedral of St John the Baptist which was absolutely stunning. We grabbed a program as we left.

IMG_3934

The next insert is a Project Life envelope that I put in to hold our smaller items. We added the key to the hotel we stayed in, arm bands from a bar we went to, and receipts for items we bought.

IMG_3936

This insert was cut from a larger page with just three 6x4 slots on the front and another three on the back.

IMG_3937

I reused a photo that we took on the first day we were in Savannah in the middle of this insert. We kind of love that photo, and the fact you can walk around with a drink on the streets.

IMG_3938

I threw in some 4x6 photos around a card that was in our room when we arrived. I love that the staff signs every card.

IMG_3939

Some additional photos from our trip with the back of the card at the top left.

IMG_3940

The month ended with a 12x12 photo of Kyle and I outside of our room in Savannah. I love the smile on my guys face.

February Project Life

IMG_3811

Welcome to February, a whole two months later. I know, I know. Always behind, but I am getting there. I talked about my general plan for 2014 last week. So this month, I am doing just that. Working with large photos, summing up the month in less space but with photos that mean more. I am not tasked with adding photos I don't love, I just add what I want and leave the rest. It makes it more of our story, and less of the fluff. I am loving it.

I love this picture of me and the little one. It is blurry, dark, and not something I would usually fall for. But it's not about the picture, it's about the memory. Our little family were sitting outside on one of the first warm days. We sat by the pool and had whiskey sours through the afternoon. We talked about the summer months, and our plans. It was pure heaven in my eyes. Just us, nice weather, and the future ahead of us.

IMG_3812

At the beginning of the month, we had a birthday party for Luke and Till. I talked about it here, and we had such a great time.

IMG_3813

I added the invitation from the party in the 4x6 area, and then 10 3x4 pictures from the festivities.

IMG_3814

On the back of the page, I added other items from the month. I got a library card in our county, went on a couple movie dates, and played ring of fire with the family.

IMG_3815

Lots of color this year, and I am not concerned with matching because it always seems to come together anyways.

IMG_3816

Every month, I have also decided to add a page with books that I finished that month. Here are February's with a small write up of each. All of these will also have a full review here.

IMG_3818

So far, I am loving this project. I loved last year. It was beautiful and holds all of our small details. This year though, seems really special. A quick glance at what we did, said, feel, and read each month in a smaller scale.

January Project Life

6a017eea02a453970d01a73d8ba097970d-800wi

In January, I decided I was going to switch from weekly Project Life spreads to monthly spreads. I really enjoyed working with the same Design A all last year, but wanted to try something new with 2014. It has been really fun exploring new photo pocket pages and mixing and matching.

IMG_3772

The one consistent that I decided on this year is a monthly title page. I will be doing two 12x12 photos cut into four 6x6 photos and slip them into pockets with the month on it. There will be no date cards like last year. It is just simple and I get to blow up my favorite photos of the month. One will start the month, and one will end the month. It works for me, and I really like it so far.

IMG_3802

January has lots of journaling and a couple of fun added pieces that I kept throughout the month. This month is not very photo heavy. And that is okay with me. As long as I get the two large photos, I will be happy.

IMG_3804

I made invitations for a puppy party in February so I threw that in as well as some Instagram photos that I liked and a movie ticket.

IMG_3806

Kyle and I were in a really great wedding in January, so the next inserts are all deticated to their special day. It was the best day and the bride was completely stunning.

Project Life - Title Page & Goals

IMG_3497

Last year was the first one that I used Project Life to document our weekly life. It ended up working great, and I had a wonderful time keeping up with it. The problem for me was feeling pressured to make pages each week. So this year I am working on monthly spreads. They could be two pages (for the slow months) or ten pages for those that I have a lot to say. This year I feel very little pressure to make sure this is done on time and posted here on the first of the new month. I want this project to be more about representing this year with our family and friends. It is our journey and I want to take the time to be proud of what we made of it.

IMG_3500

These are the first two pages to start off this year. Color will be a huge thing this year. I want everything to be bright, airy, and fun.

IMG_3502

I have added the initial and the age of each of our family members. These are just some snapshots that we took one morning. The bottom three are place holders for right now, we will be changing those out. The title page this year is plain and simple, and I plan to carry this out for the entire album this year. Here was last 2013's title page.

IMG_3507

The second page is a family goal page. We sat down and talked about some of the things we wanted to acheive together in 2014. This is what we came up with.

IMG_3509

I am using the sunshine edition and the seafoam edition this year. Both editions are so much fun and work great together.

Project Life : Week 38

IMG_1880
So I am finally back on track, but now I need to go back and post the past 6 weeks! So really I am not on track. That just makes me feel better. This was week 38 and my week goes from Sunday to Saturday. I may end up changing this in 2014 as I continue with this project.

This is the week of September 16 - September 21. I am also still working with the Seafoam Edition of Project Life.

IMG_1872

This week we did some Christmas shopping, took some pictures of my little family and saw a play at our local theatre in town. All in all it was a good week.

IMG_1874
I added an insert this week from the play that we saw on Thursday night. Please don't mind the pink tabs, they will be taken off. The insert was too big so I had to cut it down. I will sew the insert up, but of course my sewing machine broke right when I went to sew it shut. So for now we improvise!

IMG_1877

I added the ticket from  the show as well as a brief recap. Such a great night full of laughter. Kyle wrote me a letter and I added that as well. His folding skills are top notch. TIlly's little legs are at the top, they are just so cute. We call them her frog legs.

IMG_1879

The middle picture with the mason jar is the start of me making one of my favorite flavored margaritas. The recipe is above. I always forget what is in it, so I decided to write it down as I was making it.

Project Life: Week 33 (Late)

Week 33 1
This was week 33 of Project Life and I am very behind on weeks 34 and now 35.

Week 33 2

This week we had a date night, and I was able to catch the pups cuddled up to eachother. It was really sweet.

Week 33 3

We went to one of our favorite restaurants on our date night. We got great fortunes that were exactly what we needed to hear. From a fortune cookie at least. I also found a great quote that worked well this week. "Have nothing in your house that you do not know is useful, or believe to be beautiful."  I am in a throw everything away mood and this was just perfect.

Week 33 4

This week had more journaling that usual. It is nice to sometimes break up all of the pictures with some handwriting. One of my goals is to incorporate more handwriting on photos. So this was a great test run. It is a little hard to see in the photos but 2 out of 5 pictures on this page have writing.

Project Life : Week 32

IMG_20130818_195052
This week is the first full week of August starting with our trip back from Jacksonville.
Week 32- August 4 through August 10

IMG_20130818_195127

This week I added an insert of one of my favorite pictures from when Tilly and Killy met. On the back is a picture of Tilly right before she got cut on Monday. She was wearing her new dress that we bought while in Jacksonville.

IMG_20130818_195137

I added a small journal card to the bottom of the picture of Tilly bascially because there was a knee in the picture. I wanted to get it out of the enlargement.

IMG_20130818_195212
IMG_20130818_195227

I distorted the photo above because we don't want the groom seeing the brides dress before the big day this coming January. The last half of the week we had a birthday, a lizard bath, and some flavored beer for the husband. It was a nice week. I always hate leaving my parents though.

Project Life: Week 28

Photo 1
It is week 28 in this project and it was a very rainy one. It literally rained all week, I can finally say that we do not need or want anymore rain. I can say that all I want, but the weatherman keeps calling for the stuff. I have finally caught up and am now on schedule with Project Life. Check that off of the list!

Photo 2

This week we tried a new drink that we put together, so that takes up a large amount of the first page along with out 10,000 McDonald's icecream. Not really, but yes. And of course, Hank getting ready to go to his adoption event. He looks oh so happy.

Photo 3

The weekend was full of you guessed it....rain, hand holding with my love, and those cuties in the middle. I also got the most adorable necklace from the best friend.
