It is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I have a small beef to pick. This time of year is wonderful, it truly is my favorite time. This conversation may be somewhat controversial, so if you are faint of heart turn back now. I am talking about putting your tree up before Thanksgiving. I am so not the old school or overly traditional person. I just feel like you can't truly enjoy all that Thanksgiving has to offer in the form of turkey and pie when there is a Christmas tree decorated in the background. Are you with me? Maybe. Maybe not. With me you just can't mix the two holidays, it simply is not American. Of course I am being a tad bit dramatic. I can't fully focus on one holiday if I are already into the next.
Don't get me wrong, Christmas is my favorite holiday by far. I stock up on gifts all year long and I savor everyday starting on December 1 leading up to Christmas. The holiday season only comes around once a year. So I want to give both my full attention.
I would love to hear your opinions on whether you are for or against the Christmas before Thanksgiving debate. Leave me a comment with your thoughts.
In other news, we are heading to Jacksonville this evening to be with my parents for the holiday tomorrow. So we decided to have a Thanksgiving part one last night with our family here in Crawfordville. It was full of great food, amazing company, and some good talks about what we are thankful for.
The pups love the holidays, they get a little something extra (gravy) on their food. We definitely had two happy pups last night.
- This year one of my goals was to be thankful all year long, not just around the holidays like I have done historically. Every Thursday throughout the year, I write a list of what I am thankful for. If you are also participating, or have been occassionally, I would love to see it. Leave the link below!
The cards on the plates are adapted from here. I put them on ivory cardstock and folding them in half to make them stand. They were so much fun to put together.
